Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Sheet Metal Estimator with 5+ years of experience estimating medium- to large-scale commercial construction projects. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of commercial HVAC/sheet metal estimating and the ability to prepare complete bid package proposals.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates for commercial HVAC and sheet metal construction projects.
Procure new HVAC installation projects through effective and accurate bidding practices.
Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with existing customers while developing new business opportunities.
Assist management with negotiated project pursuits.
Review and evaluate project plans, specifications, addenda, revisions, and change orders.
Research and maintain current knowledge of applicable wages, taxes, codes, permits, fees, rules, and regulations for each project location.
Communicate and coordinate with general contractors, project managers, foremen, accounting teams, suppliers, subcontractors, and other project stakeholders.
Prepare bid summary sheets, proposals, projected schedules, and projected man-hour requirements.
Request and coordinate job numbers and ensure all required bid documentation is complete.
Conduct project hand-off meetings and provide budget summaries, schedules of values, bid documentation, and hand-off packages.
Utilize on-screen estimating software to prepare and manage project estimates.
Qualifications:
5+ years of experience in construction estimating, preferably within commercial HVAC/sheet metal.
Experience estimating medium- to large-scale commercial projects.
Strong ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications.
Experience with on-screen estimating software.
Knowledge of HVAC/sheet metal construction, materials, labor, and installation practices.
Strong communication, organizational, and follow-up skills.
Ability to manage multiple bids and meet deadlines.
Experience preparing complete trade/package proposals is highly preferred.
