Staff Accountant / General Accountant

Location: Hollister area, just south of the racetrack
Compensation: $65,000–$70,000 annually
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–3:00 PM or 8:00 AM–4:00 PM
Employment Type: Indefinite Temporary with a strong possibility of Temp-to-Hire
Hybrid Schedule: Fridays working from home

Position Overview

Our client is seeking a hands-on, well-rounded Staff Accountant to support a variety of accounting functions within an active and collaborative accounting department. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys wearing multiple hats, working independently, and expanding their accounting skill set.

The ideal candidate will have approximately 2–5 years of accounting experience , preferably within a small-to-mid-sized company, and be comfortable supporting Accounts Payable, billing, reconciliations, Accounts Receivable, and month-end close activities.

Responsibilities

• Review, code, and process vendor invoices.
• Communicate with vendors regarding invoices, payments, and account questions.
• Prepare customer invoices and assist with billing activities.
• Support Accounts Receivable and cash application functions as needed.
• Perform bank, vendor, and general ledger reconciliations.
• Assist with month-end close and general accounting activities.
• Review purchase orders, receipts, invoices, and three-way match requirements.
• Maintain and analyze large Excel spreadsheets.
• Assist with reporting, data analysis, and resolving accounting discrepancies.
• Follow established processes while identifying opportunities for improved efficiency.
• Work closely with the accounting team and other departments to resolve issues.

Qualifications

• Approximately 2–5 years of accounting experience .
• Well-rounded accounting background with exposure to AP, billing, reconciliations, and general accounting.
• Strong Excel skills, including PivotTables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, filters, and basic data analysis.
• Experience using an ERP system such as SAP, Microsoft Dynamics, Oracle, NetSuite, or a similar platform.
• QuickBooks-only experience will not be sufficient.
• Strong attention to detail and excellent follow-through.
• Organized, flexible, and comfortable managing multiple priorities.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
• Ability to learn new systems and processes quickly.
• Comfortable working independently with limited hands-on training.
• Must be proactive, curious, and willing to ask questions when needed.

Additional Details

• High-priority opening with a quick hiring timeline.
• Overtime may be available during month-end close, particularly during the first three business days of the month.
• Headcount approval for potential full-time conversion is expected to be reviewed in October.
